Donald Trump marks start of the ‘blessed month’ Ramadan by praising Muslims
WASHINHGTON: US President Donald Trump who called for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” wished Muslims a happy Ramadan on Tuesday in the wake of the ‘blessed month’ starting this week.
“With the rising of tonight’s moon, I send my greetings and best wishes to all Muslims observing Ramadan in the United States and around the world,” Trump’s statement on Ramadan read.
“During the holy month of Ramadan,” the statement continued, “Muslims commemorate the revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through fellowship and prayer. Many observe this holy time by fasting, performing acts of charity, reciting prayers, and reading the Quran,” he continued.
The president praised the holiday as a reminder of “the richness Muslims add to the religious tapestry of American life.”
“In this spirit of thanksgiving and reflection, those observing Ramadan can strengthen our communities, help those in need, and serve as good examples for how to live a holy life.”
“Melania and I wish you a blessed month. Ramadan Karim,” Trump added. - Read More
