Duke and Duchess attend NY fundraiser for uni where they fell in love

Kate dazzles in blue as she and Prince William arrived at the $10,000-a-ticket event at the Metropolitan in New York

The great and good of New York had spent thousands of dollars each on tickets, gowns and jewellery, but the Duchess of Cambridge opted for an old favourite as she attended the most glamorous event of her trip to New York.

The Duchess arrived for the St Andrews University 600th anniversary appeal dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing a Jenny Packham silk dress that was making its third outing in a little over a year

The Duchess, wearing her hair up, looked elegant in her teal gown, accessorised with diamond and emerald earrings, and won the screaming approval of hundreds of New Yorkers waiting across the street for a brief sight of her.

The dinner was held in a room housing the Temple of Dendur, an Egyptian temple built just before the birth of Christ and given to the museum by the Egyptian government when it had to be moved to make way for the Aswan Dam.

The menu included starters of potato and leek soup, smoked haddock fishcake with crispy leeks and Scotch lamb pie, followed by a main course of mushroom-crusted tenderloin of Angus beef and cedar plank Scottish salmon.  Read More at Telegraph
