U.S. senator John McCain tours Afghanistan
KABUL, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- U.S. senator John McCain visited Afghan capital city Kabul and called on President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday, said a statement released by the President Office.
In the meeting concerning mutual interests including the situation in Afghanistan, region and the war on terror were discussed by the two, the statement added.
Ghani and McCain stressed for mounting pressure on terrorists and extremists in Afghanistan and the region, according to the statement.
During the meeting, McCain assured his country's continued support to Afghanistan, said the statement.
McCain's blitz visit to Afghanistan came amid the U.S.-led NATO forces pullout from Afghanistan and Afghan government's failure to form a cabinet.
