Iran Nuclear Talks Head Down to Wire -- Wall Street Journal

VIENNA—Iran has offered no significant concessions on the key issues of enrichment and sanctions relief, Western diplomats said Saturday, but there is still time to shape a political deal setting the outlines of a nuclear accord.

With the deadline for talks a little over 48 hours away, western officials said the only path to an agreement now was what they had long warned of—that Tehran would wait until the very end of negotiations to make their most important concessions.

“We have reached a point in the talks where probably we can’t have an agreement without some very significant moves from the Iranians,” said a senior western diplomat.

The official said a final, complete detailed agreement by Monday was now “impossible,” but a deal setting out what U.K. Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond called Friday “the key principles“ of an agreement remains possible.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif “could easily receive some very flexible instructions…[that] allow us to make a deal,” the person said. “No-one can say this is finished…The only thing is we can’t do the job for the Iranians.”   Read More
