UNAMA chief meets HIA team - Pajhwok

KABUL (PAN): As President Hamid Karzai's peace initiative is gradually gaining traction, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General Thursday met with a Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) delegation.

The six-member delegation handed over to the authorities what it called a list of suggestions aimed at ending the current crises in the conflict-devastated country.

Among other things, the HIA demands withdrawal of foreign ‎troops by the end of the year, a ‎ceasefire with rebels, a transfer of the security responsibility to Afghan forces and holding ‎presidential, parliamentary and provincial council polls next year. - UNAMA chief meets HIA team
