AFP: Karzai's VP pick risks votes, foreign support

International officials horrified at his inclusion on Karzai's ticket alleged Monday he was involved in criminal gangs behind a wave of recent kidnappings, weapons smuggling and narcotics activities.
His proposed reintroduction into the government shows an Afghanistan unable to move away from its warlord-dominated past, lawmaker Shukria Barakzai told AFP.
