The election is over. Votes are still being counted, but we've learned a lot. Here are three storylines that developed overnight:
1. The GOP made the cut for governor. Because of California's unusual primary system, the top two vote-getters move on, regardless of party. When the campaign started, it was unclear if a GOP candidate could get enough votes to advance. Republican John Cox, boosted by support from President Trump, rose to the challenge.
