Pope Francis ends Mexican tour honoring migrants
Pope Francis on Wednesday laid a wreath to honor dead migrants on a specially constructed platform overlooking the Rio Grande.
Widely expected to address immigration reform, Francis instead focused on the causes and consequences of forced migration as he wound down a six-day trip to Mexico with a stop in Ciudad Juárez, across the Rio Grande from El Paso, Texas
Francis addressed forced migration at his final Mexican mass, calling it a "crisis that can be measured in numbers, we want to measure it in names, stories and families."
The pope's visit dealt almost exclusively with internal Mexican affairs. His presence on the U.S.-Mexico border was panned by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who said the visit was orchestrated by the Mexican government to "keep the border just the way it is because they’re making a fortune and we’re losing."
The Vatican issued a response Tuesday, explaining that "the pope always talks about migration problems all around the world." - Read More at thehill
