Speaking to a U.S. Senate appropriations subcommittee on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said that a lack of ground supply routes for NATO efforts in Afghanistan going through Pakistan -- which have been closed since November 2011 -- are costing the U.S. $100 million per month (NYT, ABC).
