GOP makes political hay of Afghan Koran-burning crisis - Michael Hughes

General Stanley McChrystal once accurately described the struggle in Afghanistan as a “war of perception”, yet this assessment has been lost on Republican presidential candidates who have been quick to use the recent Koran-burning incident as campaign fodder.

It seems Republicans want it both ways – they want a long-term military presence in Afghanistan until every last Taliban and Al Qaeda element is killed or captured, and they want the host country to never mind if the U.S. happens to be culturally insensitive on occasion.
