Growing number of Afghanistan children addicted to opium

The United Nations released survey results June 21st saying 1 million Afghans are caught up in drug addiction. The report says the problem is major and growing -- especially amongst children.

Vienna - The Afghan addiction rate is higher than that found in most other countries, double that of the world average the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNDOC) said. 8% of Afghans are addicted to drugs. But the most shocking information to come from the survey, Drug Use in Afghanistan, is that children make up a growing proportion of drug addicts in the country.
