Afghan Says U.S. Ambassador Pushed for Prosecutions - nytimes

KABUL, Afghanistan — A spokeswoman for the American Embassy, Caitlin Hayden, said that the American government did not interfere with the Afghan government’s decisions on such personnel matters as prosecution.

“The U.S. Embassy has a regular dialogue and a strong partnership with the Attorney General and his office, including robust mentoring and training programs,” she said.

“The Ambassador’s discussions with his counterparts are private and we’re not going to comment on them,” she added. “The United States continues to respect that personnel decisions are for the Afghan Government to make.” --- - Afghan Says U.S. Ambassador Pushed for Prosecutions
