US seeks clarification over Karzai UN poll fraud claim

A US state department spokesman said Karl Eikenberry, the US ambassador in Kabul, had met Mr Karzai "to clarify what he meant by these remarks".

Mr Gibbs said Mr Karzai's remarks were "cause for real and genuine concern". "We are seeking clarification from President Karzai about the nature of some of his remarks," he said.
