U.S. says Afghanistan civilians killed in airstrikes

KABUL (Reuters) - The U.S. military acknowledged on Saturday that civilians were killed in a battle which prompted Afghan President Hamid Karzai to call for a halt to airstrikes within the country's borders.

"Terrorism is not in Afghan villages, not in Afghan homes. And you cannot defeat terrorists by air strikes," Karzai said. U.S. says Afghanistan civilians killed in airstrikes
