Bush Signs Massive Housing Relief Bill

President Bush this morning signed into law the most sweeping housing legislation in decades, aimed at calming rocky financial markets and giving mortgage relief to up to 400,000 homeowners

The FHA, as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, also will be given permanent authority to assist borrowers with much larger home loans--the bill increases the cap on the size of those loans to $625,000.
